Secondary Protection Systems

Our flag-ship products are our Secondary Protection, Monitoring, and Control panels for medium and high voltage assets including:

  • Transmission and distribution feeders;
  • Transmission and distribution transformers;
  • Busbars;
  • Circuit breakers; and
  • Capacitor banks

We also build medium and high voltage metering panels.


These systems are typified by high complexity, specialised relays, and exacting standards. We have a strong practical knowledge of the relays and components that make up these systems and are experienced in Utility companies’ unique design specifications.

REPRESENTATIVE PROJECTS

SOLAR FARM, BURONGA NSW – 2019

DATE OF MANUFACTURE: 2019

MANUFACTURING LOCATION: Adelaide

SCOPE: Walker Control was contracted to manufacture ten Secondary Protection Panels for a 33KV filter bank and 132/33KV transformer for a new 275MW solar farm in southern NSW.

OUTCOME: The project was completed on time and to an exacting quality standard including informative, engraved labels to aid operator understanding of the system configuration

Davenport Substation SA

DATE OF MANUFACTURE: 2019

MANUFACTURING LOCATION: Adelaide

SCOPE: Walker Control was contracted to manufacture 12 cabinets for the substation upgrade. This comprised 2 circuit breaker management panels (photo), 1 metering panel, 7 marshalling kiosks and 2 condenser panels

Fergusion North Substation SA

SCOPE: 6 cabinets comprising 3 SCADA Panels and 3 Substation Protection Panels

SCOPE: Walker Control was contracted to manufacture a dedicated control panel for Miscellaneous Signaling

HV Remote Operating Panel 2018

When switching high voltage, operator safety is front of mind. Walker Control supplied a Remote Control Panel for operating HV circuit breakers and disconnectors at a Nickel Plant in WA. This facility provides both operator safety and convenience for a critical plant process.
